The School and Community Association (SCA) is to support, enrich and enhance the functions of Cedar Mountain School in fulfilling its mission in the community, which is to provide a comprehensive, well-rounded education to the children it serves. It is an avenue of communication between home and school. It is also a means by which parents/guardians can help the school service the children.
Monthly meetings are held the second Thursday of every month (unless otherwise noted) in the cafeteria at 9:30am.
If your child's education is to be a worthwhile endeavor, it is important that the school and parents/guardians WORK TOGETHER in the best interest of the child. Talk with your child about the school program and activities and express your interest in his/her progress. Make every effort to attend parent/guardian teacher conferences. Provide a quiet atmosphere and suitable time in which your child may do his/her homework, but do not do it for him/her. Accept your child's own best work.
Consider volunteering some of your time to assist in the school program. At the onset of the school year, you are invited to join the SCA and you will receive a membership form.

School Store
We will open the school store on the following dates for the children to purchase school supplies. There is a $2.00 limit.
School Store Dates:
March 4th and 18th
April 15th and 29th
May 6th and 27th
No School Store in June
Box Tops – we are collecting Box Tops during monthly collections in which the children will receive a small token as well as a chance to win larger prizes at the end of the year. You can drop off the neatly cut Box Tops in the school office or send them in with the children during Box Top Store dates. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Cheddy Bogdewicz.

Ongoing SCA Activities:
Juice Pouches – we are collecting juice pouches which we will receive $.02 per pouch and the money will be used for Field Days. Please drop off your empty, dry juice pouches at the school office. They can be sent in with the children or when they complete their daily lunches.
Shop To Earn – please use this website when placing on-line orders. There are over 1,000 stores to choose from. There are no additional fees for using this site. We make a profit from the purchases that will go toward high school scholarships.
Umbrellas – Large Vernon Viking (blue and white with Viking symbol) umbrellas are for sale for $20 at the school office daily.

Friday, May 14th – Bike Rodeo
The CM SCA in conjunction with Sussex Bike Shop will be having a Bike Rodeo! This is a fun hands-on approach to bicycle safety. Your child’s bicycle will be inspected for safety, helmets will be checked for fit and integrity, and there will be skill courses including going through cones, brake tests, figure eight courses, etc. Information on this will be going home shortly. If you have any questions, please contact Cheddy Bogdewicz. Rain date is Tuesday, May 18th.
Friday, May 28th – 2nd Grade Field Day
If interested in volunteering please contact Tammy Lavorini. Date subject to change. Donations of juice pouches and individual bags of chips will be needed for this day. Please drop off at the school office by May 24th. Rain date is Wednesday, June 9th.
