Intramurals - Interscholastic Events
Glen Meadow Middle School offers a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Extra-curricular activities occur after school and co-curricular activities are treated as a class and meet during the school day. Below are some of the forthcoming co-curricular and extra-curricular activities your child can join.
Variety Show
All Variety Show auditions and rehearsals are held after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the months prior to the show. Once cast, crew, and acts are selected, a definitive rehearsal schedule will be generated. Occasionally, rehearsal is extended to approximately 6:00pm, when students would need to be picked up by a parent.
Art Enrichment
Selected students will work on various art assignments during enrichment period on designated days. Flexibility in scheduling will be used to coordinate overall projects and to work on specific student projects.
Interscholastic Field Hockey - (Fall)
Glen Meadow's seventh and eighth grade field hockey team meets every day beginning the first week of September. Activity buses are available for students on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Interscholastic Wrestling
Grades five to eight meets from the first week of November through mid-February on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Matches may be scheduled for any day of the week.
Interscholastic Basketball - Boys
Grades seven and eight meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 3pm-5:30pm, starting the first week of November through mid-February. Games may be scheduled for any day of the week.
Interscholastic Basketball - Girls
Grades seven and eight meets the first week of November through mid-February at Lounsberry Hollow Middle School following the same schedule as the boys. Students will be shuttled to LHMS by bus. Games may be scheduled for any day of the week. Practices will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until 5:30pm.
Interscholastic Track and Field - (Spring)
Track and field practice is held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the spring, with optional Saturday practices. Track events include sprinting, distance runs, and occasional hurdles. Field events consist of discus, shot put, high jump, and long jump.
Reflections
Reflections is a collection of student writings and creative drawings which are submitted for publication through recommendation by a student's teacher. Students are encouraged to submit original works for publication.
Yearbook
Twenty-five to thirty eighth grade students are selected to work on the staff of the yearbook. Throughout the school year they are involved in designing, editing, picture taking, and selling the school yearbooks. Obviously this involves many after-school hours of hard work and true commitment from students.
Builder's Club
Builders Club is a "student-led" community service organization, which operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. It provides a way to form sound personal values based on experiences in meaningful community-service activities. The members learn by doing. The learn organization, teamwork, and leadership. Major objectives include:
