Abraham Lincoln Virtual Field Trip– Many of our students took a virtual field trip on Abraham Lincoln through “Learn Around the World”. Students learned about Abraham Lincoln’s life from early childhood through the presidency. Alexa from Mrs. Battista’s class got to ask a question that was seen in hundreds of classrooms across the country! Alexa asked about Abraham Lincoln’s early schooling. We learned that Abraham Lincoln only went to school through his early years totaling ONE year!! Abraham Lincoln was a truly self-taught person! Edward from Mrs. Giangrande’s class shared a fun fact live about Mr. Lincoln that he was a shopkeeper. One time, Abraham Lincoln overcharged a woman six cents and walked miles to return the money to her! This is how he got his nickname Honest Abe! You will see Edward in the bottom picture on left side of the smartboard telling his fact.
Jump Rope for Heart: Our students raised over $4,000.00 for the American Heart Association in this year’s campaign. Money raised goes directly to heart research and education. Here are some pictures of our students enjoying gym class during this activity. We thank the parent volunteers who donated their time to assist with this program.

Beyond the Classroom: The Importance of Reading Aloud to Our Children– please take a moment to read this informative article on the importance of reading to your child, no matter what age! In the words of Meghan Cox Gurdon, in her Wall Street Journal article “The Great Gift of Reading Aloud,” says that in the not so distant past, reading aloud was the way children fell in love with stories. Enticing storytellers would captivate their listeners as unfolding sentences offered gifts to their imaginations. The child who learned to love stories by hearing them would be a child who would willingly gravitate toward more sophisticated literature on his own. This statement nicely encapsulates the premise of this article. Thank you for taking a moment to read it.
