The laws of the state of New Jersey require regular attendance of all pupils enrolled in the public schools.
The Vernon Township Board of Education believes that regular attendance in class, participation in class activities, and interaction between student and teacher are vital and integral parts of the learning process.
Frequent absences of pupils from regular classroom learning experiences disrupt the continuity of the instructional process. Students cannot benefit from classroom instruction if they are not present. Poor attendance limits accomplishments and reinforces a habit which will handicap the individual in future education as well as future employment. Therefore, the Vernon Township Board of Education requires attendance of all students each day that school is in session.

The Vernon Township Board of Education believes excessive absences warrant administrative action.
