Dear Walnut Ridge Family & Friends!
Before I give my regular update I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy New Year, and safe and healthy winter break. We have been very busy at The Walnut Ridge School over the past few weeks. Here are a few highlights!
Sing-Along!
Our Sing-Along was a huge success. We had a packed Auditorium for both of our shows and our students sang and danced beautifully! I hope those of you who attended had as great a time as our students did (and as I did playing the piano alongside them)! Here are some photos from the event.
Pajama Day
The preschool children showed their spirit of kindness through a pajama drive at The Walnut Ridge School. The students donated over 50 new pajamas which were matched with a book for each pajama through Scholastic for families in need. The students were able to celebrate their accomplishment by hosting an in-house Pajama Day on December 8th. They were excited to have a special snack all together and get into the spirit of giving. Here they are (below) watching a movie and snacking in their PJs.
January Parent Meeting
By now, you all should have received my letter in your child(ren)’s folder regarding an invitation to an upcoming Parent Meeting on January 17 at The Walnut Ridge School. If you missed it, or misplaced it, please access the letter HERE. Please remember to RSVP to Mrs. DiCarlo (jdicarlo@vtsd.com) if you plan to attend. I hope to see you there.
Physical Education – 3rd Marking Period
Ready or not, the third Marking Period is almost upon us! It will begin on February 5! For our third Marking Period, our children will be participating in Physical Education on Mondays as their “special.” In order to best prepare you and the students for Physical Education, our teacher Miss Gonnelli has penned a letter. Pledge of Allegiance
If you have been following us on Instagram you know that we have been having the students take turns doing the Pledge of Allegiance in the morning and the afternoon on the loudspeaker. Students have been EXCELLENT and have been really enjoying themselves! Please see our Instagram photos below!

January Field Trips
The month of January can sometimes be a “let down” for children after all the excitement that December brings. We at The Walnut Ridge School are working to make sure that this will not happen! We have two very exciting field trips planned in January. On January 19 we will be taking a field trip to Vernon Township High School to do our Tools of the Mind-themed play through the lens of the HS CTE programs. On January 23 we will be having another field trip — this time to Price Chopper in Warwick — to give students a chance to learn about a supermarket. Very exciting stuff on the horizon for our kids!!
