Elementary School Counselors
- Help students to understand themselves and others.
- Help children develop skills in getting along with others.
- Help children learn to make decisions.
- Help make school a successful experience for all children.
- Help prevent problems from developing.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Consult with parents/guardians and teachers in private conferences about their children.
I will work with students in many different ways:
- Classroom Caring Kids Lessons – work with topics relating to School Counseling in a whole class setting.
- Coordinate referrals to school and community agencies (when school personnel and parents/guardians agree).
- Individual Sessions – requested by student, parents/guardians, or teacher (with permission from parents/guardians).
- Group Sessions – work with a group of children with similar needs (with permission from parents/guardians).
- Coordinator of I&RS Committee – The Intervention and Referral Committee (I&RS) assists students who are having difficulties in the classroom learning environment
- Anti-Bullying Specialist (ABS) – educating students about bullying and ways to have positive peer relationships in accordance with HIB (Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying) Law
