This office of Facilities Management is committed to delivering quality customer service by being responsive, flexible, innovative, and efficient. We are committed to effective communication to include ensuring that this web page provides up-to-date, relevant, and accurate information. We provide preventive and corrective maintenance to all Vernon Township School District (VTSD) buildings, grounds, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
The office also provides project management for capital outlay and minor improvement projects, and manages the monitoring and mitigation of environmental hazards at VTSD buildings.
The Maintenance Department consists of 8 full-time positions and services 8 facilities which contain in excess of 560,000 square feet of space and 215 acres of property. They also provide technical knowledge and expertise required to keep the schools up to code with numerous federal, state, and local fire, health, and safety codes that impact the school division.
The Custodial Department consists of 20 part-time and 27 full-time positions and also services 8 facilities containing in excess of 560,000 square feet of cleaning space. Custodians are often the backbone of the school buildings. These custodians work 12 months a year and perform daily cleaning of classrooms and halls, offices, gyms, restrooms, libraries, and cafeterias. Emergency snow and ice removal are also performed by the school custodians. Custodians are trained in-house for the proper use of machines and safety of all cleaning products and how to manage handling blood-borne pathogens.
The Grounds Operations is responsible for the general landscape maintenance at all school facilities and offices. The Grounds Department consists of 3 full-time positions; their duties are varied and far-reaching. They perform asphalt repair, concrete and masonry repairs, install fencing and exterior signage, provide special event support, grading improvements, athletic field maintenance, landscape, mowing, snow removal, perform general service and repair for grounds care equipment.
