Congratulations to Mrs. Tara Holderith, 7th-grade math teacher, who has received the NJ Department of Education Exemplary Educator Award! This award is given in recognition of a teacher who is deeply committed to the field of education and demonstrates highly effective teaching practices and serves as a professional role model. We are very proud to have an Exemplary Educator at Glen Meadow Middle School. For those of you who know Mrs. Holderith and whose children have or have had Mrs. Holderith, I think you will agree that she is highly worthy of this fine distinction!
5th Grade Exploring Electives Experience: Our 5th-grade program was a great success! Parents and students were able to learn about the special area classes held at Glen Meadow and also see a wall that was filled with information on all of the clubs and sports available after school. Students learned a lot about the next school they will go to next year in our school district. Here is the link to a recent VTSD podcast featuring students who served at this event.
Sussex County Honors Choir: Congratulations to an elite group of Glen Meadow singers who auditioned and were accepted into the Sussex County Honors Choir this year. Students performed in a concert at Kittatinny Regional High School last week.
VTHS Pep Rally: Our 8th-grade students will be experiencing a Vernon Township High School pep rally that will be held in our gym on Wednesday, November 27. The VTHS. Our 8th graders will hear from various groups at the high school in preparation for making class selections and the upcoming 8th Grade Student/Parent Orientation held at Vernon Township High School on Tuesday, December 3, at 6:30 pm. Mark your calendar!
Vernon Lights Festival: Glen Meadow is excited to be invited to be one of the first groups to walk through the light festival themes on the grounds of the former Camp Sussex! Our 6th-graders will be going on December 2, 7th graders on December 3, and 8th graders on December 4 (PLEASE NOTE: this is a change in date). There is no charge for this special field trip. Please encourage your child to dress warmly and wear proper footwear as this is an outdoor activity. Check out the Vernon Lights Festival website.
Teacher of the Year Program
You are invited to nominate a teacher for the annual NJ Department of Education Governor’s Teacher of the Year and Governor’s Educational Services Professional of the Year. Please use this form to nominate a teacher at Glen Meadow. Our building selection will be made in early December. There are so many outstanding professionals in Glen Meadow for you to consider! Last year’s recipients were Mrs. Kathy Stigler, special area technology teacher, and Ms. Stephanie Ash, School Nurse

Updating your contact information: Now that the winter is around the corner, you are reminded to update your contact information in Genesis. You should also make sure that you have all checked the boxes for the phones you want to receive school information. You can receive emails in addition to phone calls. Please call the main office if you need any assistance with updating your contact information; we’d be happy to assist you!
Project Self-Sufficiency Toy Drive is underway. If you would like your child to donate a new unopened toy, please do so by early December. The toys that are donated will go less fortunate families in Sussex County. Students that have made donations are very proud of the gifts they personally selected.

TREP$: Our 6th Grade TREP$ program will be held on Thursday, December 5, at 6:30 pm, in the auditorium. This is a must-see event…you can take care of a lot of your holiday shopping purchasing handmade products by our students who are learning about what it takes to be an entrepreneur, have a business and market the products. Our 6th-grade students have been working on their ideas and items this fall under the direction of Ms. Reagan.

Change in the 2019-2020 School Calendar: We will have an Early Dismissal Day on Friday, December 20, 2019, school is closed from December 23, 2019, through January 1, 2020. School will re-open on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
