Dear Cedar Mountain Families:
Lorax Team: First-grade students Charlie, Madelyn, Khloe, Amie, Mia, Elliot, Eric, and Kellyie beautified our “Kindness Rocks Garden” in the front of Cedar Mountain by planting spring flowers.
May SCA meeting will take place on Monday, May 6th, at 9:45 am. At this meeting, we will be electing our new officers. Our recent Pounds of Pennies Campaign was very successful! Our school raised $1,882.00 that will go toward future school activities! That’s a “lotta” pennies!! Thank you to all students that contributed to this class competition. The winning kindergarten class (Ms. Thomas) and the winning first-grade class (Mrs. Battista) selected the t-shirt design for this year’s Fun Day.
Trout in the Classroom: In October, Mrs. Docherty, our art teacher, received rainbow trout eggs from the Pequest Hatchery as part of the “Trout in the Classroom” program co-sponsored by NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife and Trout Unlimited. In art class, students have enjoyed watching the fish develop from the egg stage into fingerling trout ready to be released into the wild. Cedar Mountain students and their families are invited to join Mrs. Docherty as we release the trout that we raised in the art room into Wawayanda Creek right here in our beautiful valley on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 9:00 am (rain or shine). Park near the bridge on Prices Switch Road approximately .4 mile in from Route 94 and walk into the dirt road on the left (marked with balloons and the wooden fish from the art room) to the Public Access Point to the creek.
First-Grade Art Project:
Enjoy the beautiful art work of our first-graders. Each student painted a feather that was put together to make a bird. If you are in the building, please stop by to see this awesome display!
