Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you and your child are having a wonderful summer!
As we come to the end of August and approach the first day of school I wanted to remind you of a few things to start off the year:
Immunization Forms
If you have not submitted immunization forms from your child’s pediatrician please do so immediately. You can stop by The Walnut Ridge School anytime between 8am and 3pm and see Mrs. DiCarlo in the main office to drop off completed forms. Submitting these forms is imperative because without it we are not able to send you our welcome packet which includes important information about your child’s schedule, bussing, and additional forms.
Back-to-School Night
If you have not yet received our welcome packet, you may not be aware that our Back-to-School Night for all parents/guardians and children is Thursday, September 7 from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. All students enrolled in the morning session should come at 3:30 pm and those enrolled in the afternoon session should come at 4:00 pm. Back-to-School Night is an important opportunity for me and for the teachers to meet you so that we can best work together as one team in serving and educating your child!
Picking Up and Dropping Off
Please remember to park in our parking lot and walk your child(ren) to the front door when dropping him/her off at school. Please do not drive to the front of the building. It can be very dangerous for our children. The same goes for picking up children at the end of their day. When picking up children, please park in the parking lot and walk to the front of the door to meet them. Thanks for you understanding and cooperation!
Happy Birthday!
This year is the 60th anniversary of our school building! We plan to hold events throughout the year to celebrate. If you have any ideas you’d like to share for events or ways we can celebrate, please email me. I would love to collaborate with you.
Share the Good News!!
When you receive the welcome packet, there is a form regarding photo consent. Please rest assured that if you consent the images of your child will only be used in a positive, rewarding, and celebratory way through our school district sponsored media outlets (e.g. our website) and in local newspaper articles (e.g. The Advertiser). I strongly encourage all families to opt-in to this opportunity to share the great work of your child with our community.
Walnut Ridge Swag
I have recently ordered t-shirts for each student attending The Walnut Ridge School. We are excited to be able to give those out for free to your child on the first day of school. He/She will come home with it on Friday, September 8. There may be times when we will ask all the students to wear their shirts (e.g. field trip days and spirit days). These dates will be announced to you far in advance for your convenience.
I look forward to seeing you and your child(ren) on Thursday, September 7 and beginning the year on September 8!
All the best,
Joseph S. Piccirillo
Principal of Walnut Ridge School
