Dear Walnut Ridge Family,

As our first full week comes to a close I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for the gift that is your children. It has been so wonderful to see the students over this past week working together in their classrooms, participating in activities, and quickly making new friends.

Seeing all of the students and teachers in their matching t-shirts on Monday was very touching for me. In many ways, this small moment represented something much bigger, because when the students entered our school that they they were all one. Regardless of our differences, backgrounds, ages, languages we speak at home, etc. we are all members of one Walnut Ridge family!

This leads me to let you all know that during the first week of October (10/2-10/6) our district will be celebrating the Week of Respect. We have a few events and activities planned for that week and we be sharing this all with you very soon. In the meantime, however, we all realize that respect, cooperation, care, love, and kindness should never be isolated to just one week in the school calendar. At The Walnut Ridge School, we reinforce with our students the importance of treating every one the way they themselves would like to be treated. This means being polite and kind and greeting everyone with a smile, whether in the classroom, bus, hall, or playground.

In other news, you will soon, or may have already, received information regarding our field trip on September 28 to Pochuck Valley Farms. If you have not received it or have misplaced it, a digital copy is in our digital backpack! This event promises to be a fun and memorable event! As always, please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Just a reminder that October 1 is quickly approaching, which means the November payment for Preschool will be coming due. (Payments are always made a month ahead). Below is a reminder of our Preschool Payment Schedule until the end of the calendar year. All payment can be brought directly to The Walnut Ridge School and handed to Mrs. DiCarlo.

Dropping Off/Picking Up Parking
Many of you have spoken to me over the past few days regarding parking spots for parents/guardians/grandparents dropping off and picking up students. I want to let you know that I have heard your requests. I hope that you are happy with the proposed solution.
I have made 16 parking spots available that will be reserved solely for the purpose of parents/guardians/grandparents dropping off and picking up students. These are located to the left of the walkway, when you are facing the school. For a complete map of the parking spaces please see the image below. Guest parking for drop off/pick up is highlighted in yellow.
These new parking spots will be effective Monday 9/18.

Enjoy some of these photos of our students from the first week!

All the best,

Mr. Piccirillo
