Parents and Guardians,

We have some exciting things to update you on here at The Walnut Ridge School!

Week of Respect:

Last week we celebrated our “Week of Respect” and it was a huge success. The project we made which features each child’s hand print will soon be on display in our main hallway! (A photo is on our homepage of vtsd.com). Students had a great time making it! In some of the photos at the end of this blog entry you will see more photos from the Week of Respect, including our trip to the Library where we read Horton Hears a Who and talked about our week’s theme: A person is a person no matter how small.

Acts of Kindness:

Thank you to all of you who submitted Act of Kindness sheets for the Week of Respect. We chose five students at random in the AM session and PM session to have their Act of Kindness read on the loudspeaker. They were so proud!! These students were: Ronan, Liam H., Darius, Luna T, Peyton, Isabel, Ryder, Violet, Liam C,  and Dylan! Congratulations!

Fall Fun Day:

Our Fall Fun Day is quickly approaching on October 31! We have a packed day of fun planned for the students. Here are some of the events your children will be participating in:

  • Pumpkin Bowling
  • Pumpkin Relay Race
  • Bean Bag Toss
  • Fall Fun Dance Games
  • *Trick-or-Treating through the Central Office
  • Costume Parade in the back of The Walnut Ridge School

We would like to invite you to the costume parade! You will be receiving an invite in your child’s folder this week, however, for you convenience please find this digital copy here. CLICK HERE

Please note: *student giveaways during our “trick-or-treat” will be largely non-food item. Any food items given out will be pre-packaged and will not include chocolate, peanuts, tree-nuts, or milk products. Also — each child will be given a small pumpkin to take home. Many of the items that the children will receive while “trick-or-treating” will be items they can use to decorate their pumpkin at home!
