Happy Monday Walnut Ridge Family!
Just wanting to keep you up-to-date on some happenings here at our happy school!
School Survey!

I am hoping you all may be able to help me! I often have informal conversations with some of you while you are dropping off your child or picking up your child from school. I really enjoy these meetings because they give me a chance to better get to know you, your family, and your child(ren). Often, these conversations provide me with important feedback that I use to improve our school.
In an effort to hear from more of you and to use more comprehensive data to improve our school and your child(ren)’s educational experience here at The Walnut Ridge School, I have created an online survey. If you have five minutes to spare CLICK HERE to access the survey. All feedback is anonymous and the information will be used only by the district for the purposes of improvement.
I sincerely thank you for your time!

Fall Fun Day:
Our Fall Fun Day is just about a week away — Tuesday, October 31! Just a reminder that we have many events for your child(ren) to participate in including:
  • Pumpkin Bowling
  • Pumpkin Relay Races
  • Bean Bag Tosses
  • Fall Fun Dance Games
  • *Trick-or-Treating through the Central Office
  • Costume Parade in the back of The Walnut Ridge School
We would like to invite you to the costume parade! You should have already received an invite a few weeks ago in your child’s folder, however, for your convenience please the digital copy here. CLICK HERE.

* Please note: student giveaways during our “trick-or-treat” will be largely non-food items. Any food items given out will be pre-packaged and will not include chocolate, peanuts, tree-nuts, or milk products. Also — each child will be given a small pumpkin to take home. I just picked them up with Mr. DiBenedetto today from ShopRite of Warwick. They were kind enough to donate 100 of them to our school. Items that your children will be receiving during the trick-or-treat are items that can be used to decorate their pumpkin at home.

Conferences Update:

As you know, conferences are scheduled for Monday November 6 and Tuesday November 7. At this point you should have been in contact with you child(ren)’s teacher regarding your time slot preference. I will be sending letters home in your child’s folder this week finalizing your time slot. If there are any questions or concerns about this please feel free to reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher or you can always contact me directly at jpiccirillo@vtsd.com

Scholastic Book Fair:

On November 6 and November 7, during conferences, we will be having our Scholastic Book Fair in the gym of The Walnut Ridge School. When you come by for conferences please stop in and take a look at all the books at items we have for sale!

Touch a Truck:

Save the date! On Saturday, November 11 the Cedar Mountain SCA is hosting a Touch a truck event from 2pm-4pm. Tickets are $4 and the money goes to the Fire Department and Ambulance squad. If you are interested please fill out this form and hand it in to our main office by Wednesday, November 1. Based on the excitement level of our students when they saw the fire truck with Sparky on Friday I think that many of your children would LOVE this!

Visit from Sparky the Dog:

As mentioned above, last Friday our students were all very excited because they had a special visit from Sparky the Dog and the Fire Department to learn all about Fire Safety. The students learned about what firefighters do and what they can do if they find themselves in a fire emergency. All the students had a great time!

Sincerely,

Joseph S. Piccirillo
