Happy November Family and Friends of The Walnut Ridge School!

As we begin a new month I want to take the opportunity to look back on the past week and look forward to some exciting things on the horizon.

1) Fall Fun Day

Fall Fun Day was a huge success. It was a day full of festive events, games, trick-or-treating in the Board Office, and parading across the back of the school. Thank you all for coming to watch the students in their costumes!  We couldn’t have asked for better weather! I want to give a special shout-out to The Warwick Shop Rite for donating 100 small pumpkins to us so that we could give each student a pumpkin to decorate. I hope you all enjoyed it! I am already looking forward to next year’s Fall Fun celebration!

2) Conferences are Monday and Tuesday

As you know, we will be having Parent/Teacher Conferences this week on Monday and Tuesday. You should have already received word from you child(ren)’s teacher with the specifics regarding your time slot. If you did not, please contact The Walnut Ridge School immediately and we will make sure you get that information. I am looking forward to seeing many of you over the next two days. If you would like to stop by and see me I will be in the All-Purpose Room selling books for our Book Fair…

3) Scholastic Book Fair

As I alluded to above, we are holding a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday and Tuesday during the following hours: 9am-12pm1-3pm, and 4-7pm. Mrs. DiCarlo and I set up the book fair on Friday afternoon and I must say that you DO NOT want to miss this fair. You will be able to find so many great books for your child(ren) but also there are toys and gifts for the whole family, so you may be able to get all of your holiday shopping here at The Walnut Ridge School. We planned to have this book fair take place during conferences for your convenience, so after you see you child(ren)’s teacher, please come by the All-Purpose Room and visit me and Mrs. DiCarlo and pick out a book. (Remember — all books and toys purchased at our fair are tax-free, and our school also gets credit for every book we sell which we will use towards purchasing new books for our library). This is a win-win for everyone!

4) Thanksgiving Feast

Our students here at The Walnut Ridge School certainly have a lot to be thankful for, and so we want to celebrate together! On Thursday, November 16 we will be having two large Thanksgiving feasts at The Walnut Ridge School. The first feast will be from 10:45 – 11:45 in the All Purpose Room for parents, guardians, siblings, and grandparents of our AM students and our second feast will be from 2 – 3 pm in our All Purpose Room for parents, guardians, siblings, and grandparents of our PM students. For more information about the event and for information on how to contribute to the feast please click on the link HERE.

5) Cookies with Santa

Looking ahead to December… On December 11 we will be having a “Cookies with Santa” event at The Walnut Ridge School in the All Purpose Room at 4:30 pm. For more information please click this link HERE.

6) FLU VACCINE DEADLINE APPROACHING

Looking forward to January… The due date for flu vaccinations is January 2, 2018. For more information on this please click on the link HERE to see a message from our school nurse, Ms. Gallant.

7) Survey — Responses Needed

I am hoping you all may be able to help me! I often have informal conversations with some of you while you are dropping off your child(ren) or pick up your child(ren) from school. I really enjoy these meetings because they give me a chance to better get to know you, your family, and your child(ren). Often, these conversations provide me with important feedback that I use to improve our school.

In an effort to hear from more of you and to use more comprehensive data to improve our school and your child(ren)’s educational experience here at The Walnut Ridge School, I have created an online survey. If you have five minutes to spare CLICK HERE to access the survey. All feedback is anonymous and the information will be used only be the District for the purposes of self-improvement.

I sincerely thank you for your time.
