Happy Friday Walnut Ridge Family!

Before I begin my update I want to take the opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving. There is certainly a lot to be thankful for this year and on behalf of the faculty/staff of The Walnut Ridge School, I would like to send a big THANK YOU to all of you for your support and for raising such wonderful boys and girls!

1) Our Thanksgiving Feast was a HUGE success.

We had over 300 parents and family members attend between both the AM and PM sessions. The students sang, there was a beautiful slide show, we did crafts, and we ate A LOT of food!!! Please enjoy the photos below. I will put up the complete slide show in the coming days as well!

2) We have Instagram!!

Our school district already has a Facebook and Twitter account and now The Walnut Ridge School has expanded into the world of Instagram! I have already posted some images of our Book Fair and our Thanksgiving Feast so please follow us @ the_walnut_ridge_school! In addition to notices in your child’s folder, the Principal Blog, and our website, this is one more way to stay up-to-date with what is going on in your child’s education!

3) Speaking of the Book Fair…

Our Scholastic Book Fair last week was very successful. We sold so many books that we earned over $500 in Scholastic dollars that we can use for our school book collection! Thank you to all of you that stopped by during conferences to pick up some books. It was great to get to meet some of you that I hadn’t yet, and to see some others of you again!

4) Speaking of Conferences…

Thank you to all of you who joined us for conferences last week. It is always nice for our teachers and service providers to sit down with parents. The conversations often lead to a more full understanding of the children, and help us to better educate and serve the students. We will be looking forward to having another set of conferences in the Spring.

5) Art starts Monday!

Our students have been very lucky to have Mr. Moschella here teaching music every Monday as part of our “Specials” rotation since the beginning of the year. Beginning this Monday, Mr. Moschella will no longer be with our students at The Walnut Ridge School and instead for the second quarter of the year, our students will have Art on Mondays with Ms. Docherty! Students will be given smocks to protect their clothes from paint during Art but you may decide to dress your children accordingly on Mondays while Art class is in session. As an additional reminder — the third quarter of the year will be Physical Education and the fourth quarter of the year will be Library.

6) Save the Dates

December 15 – Our Holiday Sing Along! (Parents and Family Members are Invited!). More information will be coming soon.

December 11 – Cookies with Santa (This is an event being sponsored by the Cedar Mountain SCA. It is $2 a person and will take place in the WR All Purpose Room from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm)

7) Flu Shots

Just a reminder that if your child has not received his/her flu shot. This must be done before the new year.

Once again – HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!

Sincerely,

Principal Piccirillo
