Some Additional Information

…since May is such a busy month, June will be here before we know it! Please be sure to mark your calendars with all of these upcoming events so you won’t miss out on all of the exciting activities here at VTHS!

…*please consider taking some time to thank some of the fine educators who have worked with your children over the years. There is no gift more appreciated than a simple note (or email) of thanks.

…the Spring Choral Concert, conducted by Mr. Kevin Boehm was a great success once again this year thanks to the hard work and dedication of our teachers and performers. This concert was the final one for our seniors: Alexandria Bisanzio, Mark Bosma, Emma Cahill, Matthew Charuka, Heather Cordero, Amanda Cueman, Emily Doumanis, Blake Harrsch, Emily Norris, Adrianna Maffetone, Justin Shea, Michael Tlatelpa and Michele Wagner. We would like to wish them all the best as they graduate and hope that they will continue to share their talents for years to come!

…Mr. Kevin Boehm has shared that Cole Benkendorf and Ryan Spadafina auditioned for and were accepted into the 2019 NJ All-State Choir.  This is quite an honor and we are very proud of them!

…VTHS welcomed author Brendan Kiely again this year. He worked throughout with the sophomore class thanks to Mr. Denn, Mrs. Stoeckel and the entire English Department for organizing this valuable event for our staff and students.

…thank you to Ms. Hirkaler and all of our talented students and staff members who created beautiful bowls for this year’s Empty Bowls Soup Dinner. We would also like to thank Sodexo for donating all of the soup, G&S Foods in Wantage for their donation of the “to go” cups and lids, and Ceramic Supply of NY/NJ for their support. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this wonderful event. As a result of the efforts of the Clay Club members, this event raised over $500 for the Harvest House Soup Kitchen of Sussex County. Hopefully, this will be an annual event at VTHS!

…Michelle Walsh and Jessica Kimble, editors of the “Back Porch Review,” Vernon Township High School’s Literary magazine, recently presented prizes to Brandon Lee for his digital self-portrait and Christina Bird for her poem “Bilateral.” Congratulations to all of our talented students!

under the guidance of Mr. Bruno, our students attended the annual NJ TSA (Technology Student Association) State Conference/Competition on the campus of TCNJ. At this event, Patrick Flig and Ryan Lally took third place in the category of Structure Design and Engineering for their bridge trestle performance.

…in addition, Mr. Bruno’s students recently participated in the CDC Panasonic Engineering competition, held on the campus of NJIT. (Our team has been hard at work on all stages of this competition since December 2018.) VTHS was one of the final 20 schools who competed in this year’s event, winning the prestigious Best Innovative Design Award.

…thank you to everyone who supported Cabaret Night at Silvio’s Villa last month. As a result of your generosity, a contribution of $375 was made to the Vincent Ventriglia Theater Arts Scholarship Fund.

…congratulations to Daniel McKeon who was recently recognized as the 2018-2019 Superintendents’ Roundtable Recipient. This recognition was announced at a recent luncheon at Lafayette House.

…be sure to take some time out of your busy schedules to enjoy some of our Spring Sports. The weather is more inviting and the athletes and coaches have all been working hard! They would all appreciate your support! You can keep updated about their outstanding performances by visiting the Athletics website.

…one of our SCA members mentioned that there is a valuable opportunity available for all of our animal-loving adults and students. Please visit http://antler-ridge.com/ to read all about the volunteer opportunities at the Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Newton, NJ. This opportunity may be of interest to you or some of your children, so please share this information. Thank you.

…we recently received notice that Congressman Josh Gottheimer has nominated the Vernon Township High School Marching Band to officially represent the State of New Jersey in the 2020 Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. This event will be nationally televised, which is the Official Memorial Day Parade in the United States, commemorating the 75th Anniversary to end World War II. The parade will be attended by over half a million spectators, nationally televised to millions in the United States and streamed to all service members around the globe. The event will be held on Monday, May 25, 2020. Congratulations to Max Taylor, Jody Young, Josh Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. Freifelder, our musicians, our VIP parents and everyone who has supported our marching bands over the years. We are so proud…and very excited!

…information about the upcoming Graduation for the Class of 2019 will be distributed to the seniors later this week.

…details about the Final Exam schedule will be forthcoming as we get closer to Final Exam Week.

…thank you for your continued support! Your cooperation has helped to make 2018-2019 a wonderful year!
