Hello Walnut Ridge Family,

By now I am sure your child(ren) is eager and ready to get back to school after a fun and restful summer! We are all looking forward to seeing the students again and we will have many exciting things to share with you over the next few weeks as school begins.

Three quick items to keep you aware of:

1) Back-to-School Night

Please join us on Tuesday, September 4 from 3:30 – 5:00pm for our Back-to-School Night. We will be running two different sessions for the night, so please follow the time/session that you received in a letter from your child’s teacher. At Back-to-School Night you will have a chance to meet your child’s teacher, see the classroom, speak to our nurse Ms. Gallant, learn about school lunch and snack from Ms. Remner (from Sodexo), speak to my wonderful assistant Ms. DiCarlo, and — of course —  speak to me!! Please bring your children to this evening as well. It will go a long way in making some of our new students feel comfortable on the first day.

2) Modified Schedule on Thursday and Friday!

On the first two days of school we will have a modified schedule at The Walnut Ridge School. As you are aware those first two days are Early Dismissal Days. Our normal Early Dismissal schedule is AM: 9:35-11:35 and PM: 11:30-1:30. However on September 6 and 7th our PM schedule will shift by 20 minutes. So to clarify, our schedule on 9/6 and 9/7 will be:

AM: 9:35-11:35

PM: 11:50-1:50

The reason for this is to allow time in between sessions for parents that may have questions or students that may have difficulty adjusting to school (e.g. crying children, etc).

3) Introducing our new Specials teacher — Mrs. Demsak!!

We are so excited that this year our students will be having Specials on Tuesdays with Mrs. Demsak! She will be teaching Computers in Marking Period 1, STEM in Marking Period 2, Art in Marking Period 3, and Library in Marking Period 4! Please see her welcome letter below!

4) Instagram
If you are not following us on Instagram we encourage you to! I will put up pictures of our school and school events on the site throughout the year. Thanks!
