Dear Parents and Guardians:

Our students had an enjoyable week at our Family Math Night, Family Dance Night, our annual Monster Mile, and painting rocks for the “Cedar Mountain Rocks” Garden. In addition, we acknowledged 135 students that participated in the 21 Day Reading Challenge sponsored by readaloud.org.

We will be having our Halloween Parade at Cedar Mountain on Tuesday, October 31st, at 10:45 am, in the field between Cedar Mountain and Glen Meadow Middle School. Students are reminded to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to our local food banks to “take the scare out of hunger”.  Please see this memo that was sent home for details. We thank the SCA for supplying each student with a small pumpkin that will be decorated in school on this day!

Here’s some news from Rusty, Cedar Mountain’s Seeing Eye Dog in Training:

Rusty turned 5 months old & what does any 5-month-old puppy do? Well, if he is Rusty the Seeing Eye Puppy in Training, he goes to Cedar Mountain School on most school days!  New adventures for Rusty have included running with students during Monster Mile practice and greeting students as they arrive in the morning. Rusty has also helped students focus on mindfulness during school counseling lessons. Is there a better lesson in mindfulness than adoring a puppy and talking to him?  In one month’s time, Rusty hopes to graduate from his Seeing Eye green puppy scarf to the green Seeing Eye puppy vest by demonstrating his polite nature and ease of following simple commands. It is always a fun day for Rusty at Cedar Mountain, and he knows he is “working” as soon as the children get off the buses!

Mountain Creek Riglet Ski School: It’s never too early to ski in Vernon, even without snow! Our student body learned the basics of snowboarding from professional ski instructors from Mountain Creek. Enjoy some pictures of our students learning how to snowboard at various stations around our gym. We thank Mountain Creek for bringing this program to our kindergarten and first-grade students.
