Frequently Asked Questions

Preschool Cross Country Trip at the National Winter Activity Center

Are parents allowed to attend the trip?    The National Winter Activity Center’s policy does not allow parents to join their child for the lesson.  The lesson is child-centered and geared for their age group only. Please note, we will be on a flat area on the bottom of the mountain and space will be limited.

How many adults per child?  The children will be put into groups of no more than 8.  Each group will have approximately 4 adults. Two will be from the NWAC and two are Walnut Ridge staff members.  Walnut Ridge staff will be on foot to assist students as needed.

What happens if a child does not want to ski or does not like skiing once on the trip?  Students will have the option to watch the program from the side.  In addition, we will be prepared with an alternate indoor activity as there is an indoor space provided by the NWAC.

In the case of inclement weather, will the trip be rescheduled?  We will make every effort to reschedule due to inclement weather.   Parents will be notified via School Messenger.

What will my child need to wear on this trip?  Dress your child as if he/she were going out to play in the snow: winter coat, snow pants, hat, mittens/gloves, warm socks, and boots.   Please let us know if your child will need any of these items to be provided for the day of the trip by February 12th. The NWAC will provide ski boots and skis which will be sized prior to the day of the trip.
