January 2019

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Happy and Healthy New Year!  I hope that you had a chance to relax and enjoy some special times with your children, extended families,  and friends over the winter break.

As a reminder, schools will be closed on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Schools are required by law to conduct two emergency drills per month (usually one standard fire drill and one emergency drill).  All Vernon schools designate the emergency drills as either Red or Green, Red indicating a shelter in place and Green a move outside.  All students, faculty, and staff take these drills seriously and follow the procedures in an outstanding manner. However, beginning in January, we will be sending a notice via School Messenger after we have a drill (Red or Green), so that you may also have the opportunity to discuss the importance of the drills with your child.

  • As we begin to move deeper into the winter months, and the increasing likelihood of early dismissal days, delayed openings, or school closings, it is extremely important to make sure all parent contact information is current and up to date.

Wishing you and your family all the very best as we begin 2019!
