February 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I hope this monthly communication to you finds you well! We are now two marking periods completed, or half way through the 2019/20 school year.
I am pleased to share with you Lounsberry Hollow School continues to improve the Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS) program this year.
Listed below are some great things that have occurred at LH this school year to improve the authenticity of the PBSIS program.
- Over 25,000 vouchers (a new school record) have been distributed to approximately 400 Grade 4 & 5 students since the first day of school back in September to date. These vouchers are part of a recognition program at LH that allows students twice a month during their lunch to turn in accrued vouchers at our school store for books, toys, school supplies, bracelet making and painting opportunities, school tours,….and other reward prizes;
- 85 Captains’ Awards have been awarded to LH students since September for students who have demonstrated respect, responsibility and kindness. Students are awarded Captains’ Awards certificates who are nominated and selected as exhibiting positive behavior;
- 8 Classroom reward parties have been awarded and held (four in Grade 4; four in Grade 5) for homerooms who accrued and received the most PBSIS vouchers as a class for the months of September, October, November and December thus far; and
- A new “Red Zone” Game Room which has a ping pong table, two foosball tables, an air hockey table, a corn hole toss game and board games for student use to be earned by students in return for PBSIS vouchers during recess time and other times faculty at LH warrants for students’ positive behavior.
So many good things happening at LH as our school year continues to move through the winter months!
Best wishes to all of you and your students as we move through February!
Sincerely,
Dennis J. Mudrick
