Rolling Hills Primary School Principal’s Blog – August, 2020
In preparation for the 2020-2021 school year, please review the information listed below:
School supply lists.. have been posted in the Rolling Hills Digital Backpack. Please note, due to health reasons, we are highly recommending that students DO NOT share any materials. We are also requesting that students have a backpack with enough room to be able to transport their assigned laptops.
The Genesis Portal.. has opened and you will be able to see your child’s busing information and the “color team” your child or children are on for the first marking period, that being either Blue or Gold. Please take a moment to check into this to be sure it is correct. If you feel there is an error on your busing information, please contact Mrs. VanGilst at (973) 764-4344. If there is an error on the learning selection you’ve made, please contact the main office at (973) 764-2784. Here is the Blue and Gold Schedule for the first marking period: Blue and Gold Schedule . Please understand that we are unable to honor requests to change teams at this time due to balancing class sizes and social distancing.
In School Times.. Please be reminded that Rolling Hills will be operating on a compressed day schedule and students riding the bus will be arriving at 9:05 a.m.dismissed from buses to enter school no later than 9:10 a.m. and will be dismissed at the end of the school day to buses at 1:10 p.m and will be departing by 1:15 p.m. (please allow for adjustments as students become familiar).
Snacks/Lunch… during a compressed schedule traditional lunches will not take place; however, students will be afforded the opportunity to obtain a “Grab and Go” breakfast in the morning and/or a “Grab and Go” lunch at dismissal time. “Grab and Go” breakfasts will continue to be made available before the start of period one each day. No student lunches are to be brought in, nor will lunch be served. Also, in adhering to COVID19 guidelines and recommendations, the VTSD has decided not to allow items to be brought into school for any birthday or special holidays. This includes food items, crafts, books, etc.
Student Drop-off and Pick-up… will be handled differently in order to comply with social distancing procedures. Please be aware that all 3rd grade students are to be dropped off between 9:00 – 9:15 a.m and 2nd grade students are to be dropped off between 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. We hope everyone can do their best to comply with these procedures. Please be reminded that if you will be picking up your student for any reason and they normally take the bus, please notify the school via the parent portal prior by 12:00 p.m. or send in a note with your child.
Social Distancing & Procedures.. As a reminder, all students will be required to wear a mask at all times throughout the day except when eating breakfast/snack. Please encourage all students to build up “mask endurance” in preparation for the coming school year. Additionally, Rolling Hills will utilize established district procedures/policies regarding student/staff attendance (temperature monitoring, checklists, cleaning, etc.).
Visitors.. During the school day, visitors will not be permitted into the building. Parents/Guardians dropping off items will be asked to leave them in the main entrance lobby, and a member of the response team will deliver to the classroom.
