Monday 3/7 – “Get Cozy with a Good Book” – Wear comfy clothes, crazy socks, and bring in a good book to read!

Tuesday 3/8 – “Books are FUN” – Wear tie-dye, your favorite hat and bright clothing!

Wednesday 3/9 – “Wacky Wednesday” – Wear a crazy hat or crazy hair!

Thursday 3/10 – “Wear Words Close to Your Heart” – Wear a readable shirt!

Friday 3/11 – “Favorite Book Character” – Dress as your favorite book character!

Although our week will not begin with an assembly this year, students will still have the opportunity to recite An Oath to Read with their fellow classmates and teachers, as well as, participate in a “Read In” with their classmates.

An Oath to Read

By Debra Angstead, NEA

I promise to read

each day and each night.

I know it’s the key

to growing up right.

I’ll read to myself.

I’ll read to a crowd.

It makes no difference

if silent or loud.

I’ll read at my desk,

at home and at school,

on my bean bag or bed,

by the fire or pool.

Each book that I read

Puts smarts in my head

‘cause brains grow more thoughts

the more they are fed.

Come rain or come shine,

Snow, wind, or sleet,

each day of the week,

reading’s a treat.

So I take this oath

to make reading my way

of feeding my brain

what it needs every day!
