Temperatures will continue to be taken as students exit the bus or car and enter the building each day. Masks are still required on busses and during the school day. Please encourage your child to remain vigilant with mask wearing, physical distancing, and frequent hand washing.
Please note, the Vernon Township School District will return to a hybrid schedule until further notice. However, as you can imagine, returning to a hybrid schedule with a full day of in-person instruction brings with it challenges for teachers’ ability to meet “live” with virtual students (office hours).
As a reminder, when hybrid students are on a “learning from home” day, both synchronous and asynchronous activities will be incorporated; and every attempt will be made to decrease synchronous screen time. A more formal schedule including virtual schedules, educational expectations, synchronous versus asynchronous instruction and specific class expectations for the virtual component will be forthcoming directly from your child’s teacher. All exclusively virtual learners will continue virtual instruction five days a week.
The pandemic has affected students, family members, community members, as well as faculty and staff in our district. Therefore, please be reminded that the reopening schedule is subject to change at any time and should it be necessary due to COVID outbreaks or other health-related circumstances, our schools will close for live instruction and revert to virtual learning.
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be offered to students free of charge until June.
- Sodexo will continue with the meal pick-up for both Virtual only students and Gold and Blue team students. The order forms have been updated and are located in the district’s digital back-pack. The next meal pickup date is 1-15-21.
- For in-person students – You do not have to pre-order lunch or breakfast when your children are in school. The children will go through the serving line or go to the kiosks and grab a pre-pack lunch/breakfast. Students can still bring their own lunches and snacks (no sharing); however, all student lunches provided by Sodexo will be free, one-choice only, grab and go. Students will not have to enter their numbers.
If you are unsure of bus stop location(s) or times children should report to the bus, please access the Genesis parent portal where you can find that information.
If for some reason, you would like to change your child from hybrid to virtual or virtual to hybrid, please contact our office directly to request the change.
As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding during these unprecedented times and above all please stay safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Stewart Stumper
