Dear Parents and Guardians:

We had a great week learning about the election process and honoring Veterans at our annual Veteran’s Day Parade. We thank the Vernon Township High School Marching Band for leading our parade and playing a medley of songs for each branch of the military. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

Here are the annual VFW First-Grade Coloring Contest Winners:

Adam, Taylor, and Hannah

Mrs. Talerico and Mrs. Ollert’s class used a Google Form to vote for their favorite choice of activities for filling the cotton ball jar for good class behavior. Students voted for having ice cream as a snack. Below are students casting their votes in the voting booth.

Mrs. Haw’s class read the book Duck for President, learning about voting and the responsibility that comes with winning an election. Students cast their vote for their favorite character that they thought should be president on Farmer Brown’s farm.  Here is a video of Mrs. Haw’s class giving a book talk about Duck for President. Chris Howard will also be donating his book to our library for all students to sign out on their library day. Here is the flier that was sent home.  As a reminder, all forms are due back on Monday, November 13th!

Grandparent’s Day is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, November 20-21, 2017. There will be two sessions, one from 10:15-11:30 and 1:30-3:15. Please see the informational memo sent home. Our school Book Fair will also be going on during these two days in the Media Center.  Stop by and get a head start on holiday shopping! We are in need of parent volunteers for our Book Fair. If you can volunteer any of our sessions on November 20 or November 21, please call the main office at 973-764-2890. We thank you for the time you can devote to our building. Schoolcraft Studios will be at Cedar Mountain on these days for grandparents to have their pictures taken with their grandchildren.  A picture ordering envelope and flier was sent home with the memo on Grandparent’s Day.  Please bring this with you on the visitation day.

Our next SCA meeting will take place on Monday, December 4, 2017, at 9:30. Please note that we will no longer be holding evening meetings this year. We have found that parents are attending our meetings in the morning and we are not seeing parents come out for our evening meetings. If you cannot make a meeting and would like information, I would be very happy to go over the highlights of our meetings as well as send home any handouts. Please call Cedar Mountain or email me directly at to request SCA information.  At December’s meeting, Mrs. Nicole Keane, School Counselor, will go over her program at our meeting. Cedar Mountain is very proud to remind you that Mrs. Nicole Keane is the State School Counselor of the Year!! Mrs. Keane will have Rusty, the Seeing Eye Dog with her. Rusty recently earned his six-month-old vest!!
