new parent portal 2023

Parent Portal opening Monday at 3pm

GENESIS PARENT PORTAL:

Today at 3pm we will be opening the Genesis Portal for parents and students. The portal will include student information like homeroom teachers, schedules, bus stops, lunch balances, and more.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL FORMS:

Please be aware we have our back-to-school forms that must be completed by a parent/guardian before the portal information is viewable. For High School schedules, please be aware we are still updating Science labs – your student’s science lab may not appear at this time.

Also, please be sure to update your contact information on the CONTACT tab as well.

This year there is no longer free lunch for all students. If you would like to apply for the National Free & Reduced Lunch program, please do so in the back-to-school forms at this time (you will see the form in the list of FORMS in the Parent Portal).

LOGGING IN:

For parents that are new to the district, the primary guardian should receive a Welcome Email with a link to login to your account. If you have an existing account but do not remember your password, you can try the password reset on the Genesis Parent Portal page. If you still have issues logging in or need help changing your email address, please contact your school’s main office during open office hours 8am to 2pm.

Upcoming Tech Awareness Day 12/3

Mr. Shea shares the district’s plans for an unplugged Tech Awareness day for this Friday, December 3rd and Wellness Weekend December 4th and 5th. Our Tech Awareness Day is an effort to help students, families and staff to unplug and have good discussions about the use of technology in our day-to-day lives. Here are a few great topics to discuss with your child:

  • Internet Safety and Privacy
  • Screen Time (and maybe use an app to track screen time)
  • Digital Citizenship and Anti Bullying
  • Internet Validity and Fake News

All are great topics and you can find resources to help with these discussions at our parent help site at vtsd.com/tech

And to read more about our Wellness Weekend, check out Ms. D’Avino’s parent letter!
