Vernon Township High School physical education teachers and coaches were recently paired with Mount Carmel Academy, a high school in Houston that lost all its athletic equipment during Hurricane Harvey. Through the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), schools were given the opportunity to reach out and help Houston schools. VTHS Athletic Director Bill Foley reached out to George Giacchino, Athletic Director at Mount, to see how what they needed, and raised $1,500 to purchase new equipment, including basketballs, soccer balls, baseballs and softballs for the boys and girls programs. Sales representative Bill Colontano from BSN Sports was influential in the purchase and delivery of the equipment.
