Athletics

Philosophy

Our Athletic programs follow an Education-Based Athletics model. This model is the fabric that endears a student, a family, and a community to the school.
Athletic programs provided by the school serve to enhance learning as an extension of the classroom.
All school offerings combine to focus on development of the total student, and athletic programs in the school elevate compatibility with the academic mission of the school. An education-based athletic program must include at its core offering an avenue of student learning while stressing safety and well-being within all participation opportunities. Within each sports program there is an emphasis on positive student behavior, teamwork and cooperativeness, and being a good teammate. School sport resembles daily life-skills. Student-athletes become immersed in goals that help them mature towards successful lives once they reach the end of their time on the playing field. Working together to overcome challenges, learning perseverance, loyalty toward others and team, accepting a loss graciously, and learning to win with humility are sought after outcomes of education-based athletics.
