I hope you're enjoying these final weeks of summer and finding time to rest and reconnect with the people and places you love.
I'm reaching out with a warm hello as I begin my first week as Superintendent of Vernon Township Schools. It's an incredible honor to join this community, and I'm truly grateful for the kind welcome I've already received from staff, students, and families.
In just a few days, I've already seen what so many of you know - Vernon is a place full of heart, pride, and deep commitment to its children. It's a gift to join a district where students are known, encouraged, and supported as they grow. Every child deserves to walk into school knowing they belong, knowing they are capable, and knowing they matter.
I believe in the power of relationships, the joy of learning, and in building schools where those values come to life every day. That's the spirit I see in Vernon, and I'm honored to be part of it.
In the weeks ahead, I'll be spending time in schools, getting to know our educators, and listening closely to the stories and experiences that make Vernon special. I look forward to partnering with both staff and families as we work together to support our students in the year ahead.
You'll receive a "Welcome Back" message later this month with important details for the new school year, but for now, I just wanted to introduce myself and share how excited I am to be on this journey with you and your children.
Wishing you a joyful and restful remainder of summer.
Warmly,
Eveny de Mendez
Superintendent
