October 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am pleased to announce that Cedar Mountain is off to a great start! October is a busy month filled with lots of learning, activities and events!

We kicked off the month with Week of Respect with daily themes representing different ways to respect one another.

Friday, October 6th was Fire Safety Day at Cedar Mountain. The students loved receiving their red fire hats and gathering in front of the building to see the trucks and meet with the Vernon Fire Department to talk about fire safety.

Wednesday, October 11th there will be a virtual parent session on Social-Emotional Growth from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.  Please join using this LINK.

The SCA will be hosting a Spook-tacular Glow Dance on Friday, October 13th from 5:30-7:30pm, open to all CM & WR students and their families.

As a reminder, we will be operating on an early dismissal schedule the week of October 16th through October 20th for Parent/Teacher Conferences.

The week of October 16th through October 20th is Digital Citizenship Week! We will acknowledge this week as follows…

Monday, 10/16 - Sports Day! Represent your favorite sport to celebrate getting outside and moving.

Tuesday, 10/17 - Superhero Day! Dress up as a superhero, keeping yourself and others safe online.

Wednesday, 10/18 - Unity Day! Wear orange, which represents standing up against cyberbullying.

Thursday, 10/19 - Wacky Sock Day! Wear wacky socks to think about your digital footprint.

Friday, 10/20 - Hat Day! Wear a “thinking hat” to remember to ask questions about what you see online.

The week of October 23rd through October 27th is Red Ribbon Week! We will acknowledge this week as follows…

Monday, 10/23 - Wear Red!

Tuesday, 10/24 - Wear Crazy Hair and/or socks! From head to toe I am Drug Free!

Wednesday, 10/25 - Wear Character or Superhero Costume! Let’s scare drugs away!

Thursday, 10/26 - Wear Bright or Neon Colors! Too bright to do drugs!

Friday, 10/27 - Wear crazy clothes and bring in a food item (to be donated to a local food pantry). Take the scare out of hunger!

Tuesday, October 31st we will have our Halloween Parade @ 2:15 outside in front of the school.  Please remember that photography and videography is prohibited during the parade due to FERPA laws and privacy of other parent that do not wish to have their child photographed.

Looking back at September:
